Master’s thesis/final oral examination

When and where should I register for the master’s thesis?

To register, please contact Mr Nuber in the Central Examination Office (C 402).
The registration period to have your master’s thesis examined in the winter semester is 1-15 July.
If you want your master’s thesis examined in the summer semester, you need to register between 1 and 15 February.

What are the requirements for registering for the master's thesis?

You must have completed half of all required coursework and performance assessments. To document this, please use the form you can obtain from Dr Daniel Hütter during office hours.

How long do I have to write my master’s thesis?

The writing period is four months. In special cases, you can request to have this period extended by another two months.

If you register for your master’s thesis by 15 July, the writing period starts on 31 October and ends at the end of January.

If you register by 15 February, the writing period starts on 30 April and ends at the end of August.
